35+ Cute & Easy Dog Drawing Ideas

Hello everyone!

After spending so much time drawing nature in my last few articles, I realized something…how have I not drawn dogs yet?! They’re one of the first things that come to mind when thinking about fun drawing ideas, and somehow, I completely skipped over them. Well, that changes today!

If you’ve been following along, you might have seen my cat drawing ideas (link!) before (because, of course, I couldn’t forget cats 😆), but now it’s time to give our lovely dog friends some attention. This collection is all about dog drawing ideas! I hope you’ll find something inspiring here!

And just a heads up: I’ll be updating this over time with more breeds! There are so many different kinds of dogs, and each one has its own unique charm. So, if your favorite breed isn’t here yet, don’t worry, I’ll be adding more as I go.

Now, let’s jump into some adorable dog drawing ideas! ♥

Simple Dogs

First, let’s start by sketching some simple dog drawing ideas. Some of them will be very easy, some other a bit less easy. As always, I try to make all of them cute in their own way! Just pick your favorite, and try drawing it!

This first dog drawing idea is the most simple way to draw a dog. With very simple lines, you can draw a very simple and cute dog! You can give it the colors of your liking and even match your own puppy. Try changing the shape of the ears to match your dog!

This little dog is leaping forward, making it a very dynamic drawing idea in my opinion. And if you know me, you know I love trying to make easy dynamic drawings! It’s harder than the first one we just discovered, but isn’t it super cute? It’s one of my favorite ways to draw a dog.

Another super easy way to draw a dog! I made the stylistic choice not to outline the whole drawing, and I think it gives a really cool vibe to the drawing.

This pup is in full performance mode! With a big open mouth and music notes floating around, it’s clearly belting out a tune. Maybe it’s singing for treats? It’s not common to see a dog like this, but it surely is whimsical.

Another more stylistic way to color the dog with this drawing idea. I love this one particularly, and in general, I really like the dynamic poses that show movement. I think it makes the drawing so much more cute! It looks like it’s flying.

This one looks like a sausage, and I guess you can see it as an easy way to draw a Dachshund. It’s not super accurate in terms of proportions, but it’s cute and easy, so it works!

This one is way more fluffy! Or maybe it’s just scruffy, I’m not too sure. (I love scruffy dogs lol) Does it need to be bathed? The heart floating above shows just how much love it has to give.

This one looks like a Shiba! I looove shibas. They’re a bit dramatic, but oh well – me too. It’s not accurate in terms of proportions, but it’s a chibi version of a shiba. Isn’t it super cute?

A tiny round dog that looks like a fluffy cloud with legs! The extra puffy outline makes it extra cute. Just add soft, wavy edges for a fun, easy doodle.

A cute, playful dog with big spots and floppy ears! Its tail is wagging happily: probably excited to see you (lol, let’s imagine)! The little motion lines make it feel extra lively. And the back legs are more accurate in terms of anatomy, this time.:)

This one is the extra easy version of the one just above. I know it’s not always easy to draw all of the drawing ideas in my collections right away, so here is the same position in a simplified version for those who want to try or are struggling with the one just above it. ♥

Dog Paws Prints

A magical touch! Two cute paw prints with little sparkles around them. As you might know, I love sparkles and little dots. (i’m sure you’ve noticed lol) It gives an aesthetic and magical vibe which I love. And doesn’t it look cute around those two cute paw prints?

Dog Collar

A simple but cute dog collar with a little bone charm! Perfect for adding extra details to a dog-themed doodle in your notes~

Dogs Sitting

This little one is sitting down, with quite a silly look on its face. Maybe it didn’t get enough treats today? A simple round body and floppy ears make this a fun, expressive doodle!

Just a little pup sitting down, tongue out, looking as happy as can be! This is an easy one to doodle: just focus on round, relaxed lines to make it feel cozy and carefree.

Here’s another cute one with a collar! A little more complex than the previous one, but with the very similar pose.

And there is yet another one, with another collar. This one looks like a poodle without all the struggle of drawing its whole fluff, which can be nice for beginners or those who want a quick doodles, like me!

This tiny pup is basically a ball of fluff! With a round face and extra soft fur, it looks like a little walking cloud. Add some rounded lines for that fluffy effect. And the best part is that you can draw this kind of fluffy dogs sitting without even worrying about the legs: it’s all hidden in the fur!

Dog Phone

This retro flip phone has a cute puppy on the screen! It’s giving major early 2000s vibes, perfect for anyone who loves nostalgic doodles. Who knows, maybe it’ll come in handy?!

Dog Faces

A set of three simple dog faces, each with its own personality! I always have little bundles to my collection- so here it is. From floppy-eared to fluffy-haired, this is a great way to practice different doggy expressions in an easy way. Can you recognize each breed I meant to draw here? lol

Animal Crossing Dog

A cheerful little pup wearing a cute pink sweater! I meant for it to look like it comes out of an Animal Crossing game. It’s actually quite easy to draw. ♥ With big fluffy ears and a tiny wagging tail, it looks extra cozy and adorable. You can give it other colors for another look!

Patchwork Puppies

A cute plushie-style puppy with stitches and patches! It has that soft, handmade look, like a childhood favorite stuffed animal. Simple, cozy, and nostalgic! I love the patchwork look personally.

This one also looks like a cute stuffed animal! With little stitch marks and patches, it has a homemade plushie vibe. Super simple and great for a cozy doodle that has some personality~

Sleeping Puppy

Another cute and easy drawing idea you can try: this sleepy puppy! Isn’t it cute?

Dog Breeds

I drew a couple of specific dog breeds and I will post them all in this section. As time goes by, I will draw more of them and try to make all the dog breeds possible! If you want to request any breed to be added, please do let me know! ♥

Boxer

Boxers are the goofballs of the dog world: loyal, energetic, and always up for fun! With their strong, muscular build and expressive faces, they’re both protective and affectionate.

Some people are afraid of them; but really they’re pups full of love to give.

Dalmatian

Tall and elegant, Dalmatians are covered in polka-dot spots. The best part? You can place the spots anywhere and make each drawing unique!

as you probably know, Dalmatians are the spotted stars of the dog world! Known for their sleek, athletic build and signature black or liver-colored spots, these dogs have tons of energy and love to run. They’re not easy to raise, though

Yorkshire

Yorkies may be tiny, but they have HUGE personalities! They’re bold, sassy, and full of confidence.

Chihuahua

A tiny and confident Chihuahua with a unique custom color scheme. I’m not sure this color of chihuahua does exist or not, I made it look like kind of a Siamese cat? lol. It has a petite frame, large ears, and a short tail, making it an adorable and expressive pup.

Chihuahuas might be the smallest dog breed, but they have the biggest attitude!

Golden Retriever / Labrador

Golden Retrievers are the ultimate happy-go-lucky best friends. They’re friendly, affectionate, and always excited to meet new people (and dogs!) – and their distant cousins, the Labradors, are quite similar. You can easily draw them with the same silhouette and by just changing up their coat: goldens retrievers have long coat, while labradors have really short hair.

This looks way more like a labrador, but add long coat and you basically have a golden retriever!

Beagle

A happy beagle with classic floppy ears ♥

Beagles are curious, playful, and always following their noses on new adventures. Originally bred for hunting, they have incredible scent-tracking skills and an irresistible love for sniffing out everything in their path.

German Shephard

This alert and proud pup is standing tall, ready to guard (or play!)

German Shepherds are smart, loyal, and hardworking. Whether as police dogs, service dogs, or loving family pets, they take their job seriously! They’re super intelligent and trainable, but they also love a good play session.

Pomeranian

Pomeranians… Such pure balls of fluff! I’ve raised one, which was such a pure joy. They’re such great dogs really! And sooo cute.

Pomeranians are tiny, fluffy bundles of joy! With their thick, luxurious coats and lively personalities, they always seem to have a little pep in their step.

Corgi

A small, fluffy corgi lying down with a cute expression. Happy happy!

Corgis are tiny dogs with big personalities and even bigger butts (seriously, their fluffy booties are famous lol). Originally bred as herding dogs, they’re smart, energetic, and always ready to zoom around.

I was talking about how famous their little butt is, well here is a cute one inspired by this idea!

Dachshund

The famous sausage dog! A lot of people don’t know their name – it’s a Dachshund!

Dachshunds, aka “wiener dogs,” are long-bodied, short-legged, and packed with personality! They were originally bred to hunt badgers, which explains their fearless and determined nature.

Another funnier one. You can really get creative with these little sausages because of their shape – literally.

And one who’s jumping:)

Schnauzer

A small but mighty dog with a fancy mustache! They look so funny to me;; I love them. The bushy eyebrows and fluffy beard give them so much personality. Try making the face extra expressive by tweaking the eyebrows!

Schnauzers are clever, spunky, and full of charm! Their signature beards and expressive eyebrows give them an old-soul, wise-dog look, but they’re always up for playtime.

And a simple schnauzer’s face!

Pug

This little guy has the squishiest face and the most adorable wrinkles! Keep the lines simple and add a little shading around the face for that classic pug look.

Pugs are goofy little charmers with big, round eyes and even bigger personalities! They were bred to be royal lap dogs, and they still love being spoiled.

Poodle

This stylish one is all about the fluff! With its fancy puffy haircut and little pom-poms on its legs, this poodle looks like it’s ready for a doggy fashion show.

Poodles are stylish, elegant, and incredibly smart! They come in different sizes (toy, miniature, and standard) and have curly, hypoallergenic coats that make them extra special. They can be groomed in various ways, and my favorite is definitely not the show look, but this one:

Isn’t it just too cute? A cuter take on the poodle with a toy poodle! They always look so fluffy and cute.

Maltese

I was recently requested to add a couple of malteses, so here they are!

Maltese are super versatile and cute dogs in my opinion. The grooming can literally change their whole look! Here is one that has veryyy long coat – but still easy to draw. The long bangs are tied up on the head. If you don’t do that, they often have a bunch of hair in front of their eyes (i don’t even know how they can see?)

And here is another one with shorter hair! It seems like a completely different dog, right? lol
I prefer short hair groomed malteses personally, but they’re all cute ♥

Wrap Up

And that’s it for this collection of dogs! As I wrote above, more breeds will come as time goes by. Do not hesitate to make requests if you want to see your favorite breed featured in the article!

As always, thank you so much for reading. Here are my recommendations for your next read~
