Dinosaurs captivate the imagination like few other creatures! Whether you’re a beginner artist or just love a creative challenge, drawing these prehistoric beings can be as educational as it is entertaining. There are many different types of dinosaurs that you can draw, and we will see some of them today!

- All the dinosaurs drawn in this article are not the reflection of reality – some may have never existed! That is the cool aspect of dinosaurs, you can imagine a lot of different creatures looking like dinosaurs.
- If you don’t know how to doodle dinosaurs, these are simple ideas you can try to copy!
- Have fun with it, you can add wings, arms, legs, and anything you want!
1. A Simple Standing Dinosaur
Let’s start easy with a cute and simple dinosaur drawing idea : a dinosaur standing! You could say he looks like a chill dinosaur dad in my opinion, but make what ever you want of him! Start with the outline of the body and add the legs when you’re done. One leg is hidden because it’s on the other side of his body!
2. Smiling Baby Dinosaur
Here is another cute one : a baby dinosaur ! When drawing a baby dinosaur, just make the head bigger and the body smaller. It will make it look cuter and younger as well. The baby dinosaur is just standing on all four legs and smiling. How cute is he !?
3. A Cute Tryceratops
If you know some stuff about dinosaurs, you might have recognized this one : it’s a cute tryceratops. Tryceratops are said to have multiple horns on their heads, but I drew only one on this drawing. Feel free to add more if you feel like it, I didn’t want to overcrowd the drawing. Tryceratops are quite large, so draw their body big!
4. A Flying Dinosaur
This dinosaur is slightly more difficult to draw. Also, it has wings, and I don’t think such a dinosaur existed – so it looks more like a dragon! Nonetheless, it has the body of a dinosaur, so if you don’t want it to look like a dragon, just skip the wings part. I found it very cute to add some wings on his body – and you can see how easy it is to transform a dinosaur into another creature.
5. A Gentle Tyrannosaurus
The Tyrannosauruses are known to be quite ferocious, but you could never guess that with this doodle! Cute dinosaur doodle is making dinosaurs much more approachable, right ? Tyrannosauruses, also called T-Rex, stand on two legs and have two little arms. They are majestic creatures, truly!
6. Standing Dinosaur Looking Up
This cute dinosaur is looking up. At what is he staring ? Maybe a bigger dinosaur, maybe the sky. With a simple tilt of the head, you can change the whole story of your drawing.
7. Dinosaur Looking at The Stars
There we go! He was looking at the stars! How cute. See how easy it is to make new ideas out of drawings? You should try it as well ! For your drawing, you might make him look at a bigger dinosaur, or maybe a bird ? Anything can work, let your imagination flow.
8. A Simple Pterodactyl
This one is a simple pterodactyl flying. Even though Pterodactyles are difficult to draw, I didn’t draw the arms in the wings of this one, to make it easier. Further in the list, you’ll find another one with a bit more details!
9. A Dancing Dinosaur
Here is another dinosaur drawing idea : a cute little dinosaur dancing ! You can represent the movement and the music with the little doodles on the side of the dinosaur very easily. He has his tongue out, having fun.
10. A Cute Stegosaurus
This one is a cute stegosaurus! A stegosaurus is not easy to draw, so you can simplify it like this drawing and make it cute and approachable. The shape of this dinosaur is very interesting, and it’s one of my favorites!
11. Another Kind of Stegosaurus
This one is another dinosaur that can look like a stegosaurus. The position of this drawing is not easy to make, so don’t rush into it if you don’t feel comfortable yet! The number 10 is definitely easier, so I would advise you to start with that one and then come to this one when you feel comfortable with the shape and way of drawing a stegosaurus.
12. A Flying Pterodactyl
Pterodactyles are not easy to draw at all ! I think it’s one of the most difficult dinosaurs to draw, in my opinion. On top of having wings, they have little arms in their wings, like bats. The shape of their head is also very interesting. This drawing makes the overall shapes easier to approach, so don’t hesitate to try it!
13. A Cooking Dinosaur
A little more fun with a cooking dino! Or maybe more like a chef dinosaur. Having fun with shapes and your imagination, you can imagine all sorts of situations in which you can put the dinosaur. Try it!
14. A Gentle Brachiosaurus
Brachiosauruses are very gentle dinosaurs. They’re named the “giant plant eaters” because they’re gigantic yet eat plants essentially. This drawing represents one Brachiosaurus standing while smiling and being very cute.
15. A Cute Parasaurolophus
It’s not a widely known dinosaur, and this drawing makes all its shapes very stylized! But you can recognize this dinosaur thanks to the horn at the back of its head. This one is standing up, facing us while turning its head. A very cute dinosaur drawing to try whenever you feel like it!
16. A Parasaurolophus with Wings
Adding wings to this Parasaurolophus will make it even cuter ! Again, it looks much more like a dragon – but aren’t dragons very similar to dinosaurs anyway ? As you can see once again, adding features to your dinosaur drawing gives it a whole new life.
17. Baby Dino in its Egg
This drawing represents a baby dino in its egg. Babies are always cute, and this one is as well. And you know what ? If you don’t feel comfortable drawing the body of a dinosaur, you can also just draw it in an egg. This dinosaur doodle is definitely a clever one to try!
18. A Swimming Dinosaur
Do you know Lapras from Pokémon? This swimming dinosaur definitely makes me think of Lapras. I don’t know much about sea dinosaurs, but I’ve seen one that looked like this one. You can now draw dinosaurs on earth and in the sea! 🙂
19. A Ferocious Dinosaur
This is some ferocious dinosaur! Or is it ? It doesn’t seem too dangerous… Anyway, this dinosaur can represent a silly tyrannosaurus with its mouth wide open. It’s very stylized and easy to draw!
20. A Giant Dinosaur
This one looks like a Brachiosaurus, but isn’t a Brachiosaurus! This big dinosaur has a very long neck as well and looks kind. He is standing, his body facing the left. But his head is looking to the right ! Is there something happening there ?
21. A Playful Dinosaur
This playful dinosaur is inviting you to play ! What do you decide ? Play, or continue drawing ?
The position of this dinosaur is not easy to reproduce, but I’m sure you can do it ! The position is similar to one of a dog who is inviting its owner to play.
22. Another Standing Dinosaur
To finish off this list of dinosaur drawing ideas, let’s draw one last standing dinosaur ! It is a very simple one : no horns, spikes or other features – but you can add them easily.
