Looking for cute hamster drawing ideas? You’re in the right spot!
A few of you have asked me to draw hamsters or mice, so… I finally did it!
I sketched a bunch of easy and fun hamster poses – some sitting, some running, some curled up like tiny mochi. They’re super simple to draw, and honestly, hamsters are one of the cutest animals ever. I also added a bunch of random facts about hamsters all along the article, because I thought they’re fascinating creatures. I think I’m going to do that more often from now on in my articles, because I love to learn more about animals.
Anyway – whether you’re just doodling for fun or filling your sketchbook with tiny creatures, I hope these give you some cozy inspiration. And don’t worry.. I’ll be adding more hamster drawings as I go! ♥
Let’s get started 💛
Materials
- Use a pencil and an eraser to sketch your doodle first
- Then go over your initial sketch with an ink pen of your choice
- When the ink has dried out, erase the sketch under it
- Done!
Simple Hamster

If you only see the face of hamsters, it also looks like a mouse, doesn’t it? This easy drawing idea of a hamster’s face is probably the easiest way you can draw it. A few lines, and it’s done!

This one is the same version as the one above, but with its cheeks filled with food! As you probably know, hamsters are known to fill their cheeks with loads of food.

This one’s more realistic! It’s standing up with tiny feet and long whiskers like it heard a snack bag open. Gives off “excuse me, is that for me?” vibes. Still simple, but a bit more detailed than the rest. You probably saw this kind of pose from your hamster whenever you’re getting ready to feed it, lol.
Circle Hamster
You can also draw hamsters by just drawing a circle and adding a couple of details! It’s super cute and easy.

This is the ultimate round hamster, and probably my favorite way to draw an hamster, lol. Big round body, tiny hands, and simple dot eyes. It kinda looks like it just woke up and is wondering where the snacks are. Super beginner-friendly!

Another version of it; but this one looks like it’s representing the head of the hamster only, since you don’t see any legs. Just add little legs to change the vibe!
Hamster Sleeping
I love drawing animals sleeping, so I had to draw a couple of sleepy hamsters as well. I’m not “a sleepy creative” for no reason, lol. Hamsters are nocturnal, which means they’re most active at night. You probably see your hamster sleeping quite often! But if it’s throwing a rave in the cage at 2AM… yep, that’s normal.

A first cute sleeping hamster. If it’s winter and they get too cold, some hamsters go into torpor (a fake hibernation). It looks like deep sleep but it’s dangerous if the room stays cold. Always keep them warm and safe! Oh and also, if you see your hamster like that – please do not think it’s the end. It’s probably not.

A hamster sleeping deeply, laying flat on the floor. Sometimes, hamsters lie flat and look… suspiciously not alive. It’s okay. They’re just in deep sleep mode.
Hamster on a Skateboard

Let’s gooo! This hamster is riding a skateboard and looking serious about it. (or maybe it’s just overly stressed about it) Like it’s late to something important. Maybe a seed sale, hehe. It’s round and speedy and would make a fun sticker.
Cute Hamster & Its Wheel
Who says hamsters… says wheel! It’s quite a classic image you get when you think of hamster, isn’t it? In the wild, hamsters can run up to 8 miles (13 km!) in one night. That’s like… a mini fluffy athlete doing laps while we sleep.

Classic! A long lil’ hamster jogging in its wheel. The whole drawing is made of simple shapes, but it’s so clear what’s happening. I love that you can feel the movement, but it’s still calm. It’s the easy version of a hamster running in a wheel, for beginners!

This one is a bit more complex, for those who want a challenge. Super cute energy. I imagine it spinning slowly while the hamster stares at the ceiling, thinking deep thoughts. Ah, the life of an hamster.
Hamster Storing Food
Did you know? Hamsters can stuff food into their cheeks all the way back to their shoulders. (insane, isn’t it?) It’s like they have built-in grocery bags. And yes, they do it even when they have no reason to. Just in case.

Hamsters love to hoard food before they eat it. So sometimes they’ll grab something, run away, and bury it like a squirrel with secrets. So that’s what I wanted to represent with this one. It has its cheeks completely full with snacks – probably enough for a week worth of food! It also has a little sprout on the head because.. why not?

Another cute hamster, looking curious after hoarding a lot of food. Hamsters are naturally curious creatures. Every new scent, sound, or texture is something to sniff or climb.

A slightly overweight hamster this time, lol. Did you know while hamsters love sunflower seeds, they are actually high in fat? So too many can make them gain weight fast. A few here and there = perfect. A whole handful = chunky hamster trouble.
Hamster Eating
I don’t know if you know, but hamster’s teeth never stop growing. Yep. Their little teeth grow forever, so they need to chew on things to keep them trimmed. That’s why chew toys are kind of a big deal.

Okay, this is peak hamster. Giant cheeks, tiny hands, and stuffing its face. It’s sitting on its bum like “what? I earned this.” Definitely a must-draw if you love snacky vibes. Hamsters usually eat with both hands, holding the snack like it’s the last thing they’ll ever eat… even if they just had ten.

Tiny hands. Big snack. This little fluff is holding a striped sunflower seed right in front of its face, like it’s guarding its treasure. You know it’s not sharing. Super round, super cute.
Hamster Thinking About Food ♥

This hamster is strongly thinking of the next time it’ll eat a delicious sunflower seeds. Sunflower seeds are like… hamster gold. It’s their favorite treat, hands down.

This one looks quite different, doesn’t it? Most of us know the golden (Syrian) hamster or dwarf hamsters, but there are more than 18 types in the wild. Some of them live in deserts and make their own burrow systems.

This hamster looks like it’s up to no good, to be honest. Their cheeks give away everything. Full cheeks = snack hoarder mode. Flat cheeks = probably up to no good, lol
Curious Hamster
Let’s now focus on a couple of curious hamsters. ♥ Hamsters don’t make much noise, but their ears, posture, and how they move says a lot. Flattened ears? Nervous. Stretch and yawn? Super chill. Puffy cheeks? Snack time.

Flat. Done. Not moving. This little buddy is laying low with a blank face, like it’s emotionally drained but still kinda cute. Relatable.

This one is peaking from the inside of a box, it looks like. And is staring right at you. Love the contrast and the tiny pouty face. It’s giving “tiny but powerful.”
Hamsters are really good at squeezing through tiny gaps. Like, coin-sized gaps. A loose hamster could be under your bed, inside a shoe, or behind the fridge.

A curious hamster under a little blanket!
Hamster & Butterfly

Since hamsters are naturally very curious creatures, you might catch them doing cute things all day long. – or mostly during the night, since they’re night creatures. But since I wanted to show hamster’s curiosity, I wanted to draw a little hamster being curious about a butterfly!
Happy Hamster
Let’s draw happy little hamsters now!

Let’s start with this little guy. He makes me think a bit of Cinnamoroll. Eyes closed, tiny mouth with little teeth poking out, dreaming of sunflower seeds maybe? Just chilling. It almost makes me want to have one of my own!

This one is just a happy, squishy face! Its eyes are closed, mouth open like it’s laughing (do hamsters even laugh? i don’t think so). The little heart on the side adds that ✨positive vibes only✨ feeling.

If your hamster stands up on two legs and sniffs the air? That’s a “hmm… what’s going on over there?” moment.
Hamster and Human Hand
Since hamsters are quite a famous pet, let’s draw them with some human hands! Hamsters can actually recognize your scent and voice over time! If you talk to them gently and handle them often, they’ll start to feel safe with you.

But… they’re not really “lap pets.” Most hamsters don’t love being held for long. They’re more of a “watch me do something chaotic at 2am” kind of pet. The drawing idea is cute anyway! Hamsters are always some sort of clumsy, I think. They’re always trying to run away, and they end up in funny situations (well, at least for the human eye)

Two hands holding a cute hamster ♥ You might think hamsters don’t care about you – but if they crawl into your hand or sniff you without running? That’s a big deal. You’re in the inner circle now.
Hamster Fairy

Okay this one is just pure ✨soft✨. It’s a flying hamster with little wings and a heart balloon. Like… it almost have a fairy vibe, doesn’t it? This one would be cute for a valentine or a journal page.
Hamster Reading

This one is probably my favorite drawing of the whole list – but it’s really not realistic, lol. A obviously very clever hamster reading a book!
Silly Hamster Face

And the last hamster drawing idea of this collection… A cute hamster face with its cheeks filled with snacks ♥
