20+ Space Drawing Ideas: Easy Planets, Stars & Galaxy Doodles for Beginners

Hi everybody! I’m finally back with another drawing ideas article. I’ve recently moved to a new apartment so I couldn’t really work on my blog much, but I’m back and I’m so excited to try out new hobbies and create & find more drawings for you.

Actually, I’ve been refreshing all my articles regularly since I’ve posted them, so you can check out the other drawing ideas articles whenever you feel like it for new drawings! I should find a way to let you guys know I’ve updated the articles so you can know easily. 🙂

Anyway, today, we’re exploring space! I’ve had a couple requests for space related drawing ideas, so I thought it was about time to finally tackle it. I’ve already created an article about sun & moon that you can read, but this one will be a little more specific and we’ll introduce stars (and you know how much I like them), sparkles, planets, galaxy, etc.

I’ll try organizing them by group as much as possible!

Materials

  • Use a pencil and an eraser to sketch your doodle first
  • Then go over your initial sketch with an ink pen of your choice
  • When the ink has dried out, erase the sketch under it
  • Done!

Ready ? Let’s go! 🙂

Cute Space Doodles

Let’s start with some cute doodles for this collection!

And the first drawing is a cute and whimsical drawing that I made about space a while ago, and that you can also find in my whimsical collection. People often talk about being lost in space, and I wanted to represent it~

And here is an idea you can draw at the top of your notebooks, for example. I love drawing ideas that you can use to decorate journal/notes because I’m always journaling, so I NEED them.

And here is another one in the same spirit. Once again, super cute, easy and it’ll look great at the top of a page. 🙂

Can you think of space without thinking of astronauts? As I learn about space, I almost want to become one. But at the same time, it’s just so scary, lol. I’m probably better on earth—

Parts of the space we can see with our own eyes: the moon, and some stars. Probably the easiest doodle of this collection!

Here is some more aesthetic take on the moon, with the sun around and some stars as well. It’s probably the most aesthetic one of this collection this time, and I think I could work well as a tattoo as well.

And if you want to see more about the sun & the moon, I have an article about it!

This is probably one of my favorites of the collection. And in case you don’t know what it is; it’s a meteor! We also call it a shooting star (if i’m not mistaken). It’s made of a burning rock.

If it survives the journey through space and actually lands on Earth, it’s then called a meteorite (and it can be quite dangerous, as you can imagine)

Wanna make a wish, anyone? Because I do. It’s almost the new year at the time I’m writring these words, and I have so many dreams for the year to come. A cute way to draw a star, and a part of the space ♥

The Solar System

There are many ways to draw the solar system: you can try to represent the reality as much as possible, or tend to a more doodle approach (which I tend to like more!)

Here is one way to do it: you draw the sun at the center, surrounded by circles on which you placed planets. Simple and efficient!

Here’s another one that I like particularly, even though it’s not realistic once again.

Did you know that our solar system is basically one giant gravity party hosted by the Sun? the Sun contains 99.8% of all the mass in the solar system, so its gravity keeps everything (planets, asteroids, comets) orbiting around it in elliptical paths. that’s just so fascinating in my opinion

And here is another idea you can try to draw it. It’s more aesthetic and in my opinion it could make a super cute tattoo even. If you’re a fan of space!

Galaxy Drawing Ideas

Let’s draw some galaxies~ Galaxies are massive collections of stars, gas, dust, and dark matter held together by gravity. ours contains 200-400 billion stars, and that’s just average-sized for a galaxy.

Here is a super cute way to draw a galaxy. When I think of galaxies, it makes me think how small we actually are compared to the immensity of the universe, lol.

Here is another way to draw a galaxy! in my opinion, it’s even easier than the previous one. And to continue with facts about space and the universe, there are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on all of Earth’s beaches. isn’t that insane?

And the last way in this collection on how you could doodle a galaxy. On this one, you can really see the black hole at its center.

Planet Drawing Ideas

Let’s now draw some planets!

I’m sure you recognize this one, it’s Earth! Super easy to draw, just draw a circle then some shapes on it to mimick the shape of earth and water on it. You can add a little face for the extra cuteness, as always~

Space Drawing Idea (13)

And here is a more generic way to draw a planet. But actually, not all planets have this ring around it! These rings are made of billions of chunks of ice, rock, and dust orbiting around a planet. Our planet Earth doesn’t have it, for example 🙂

And here is another ring planet! If you were to observe Saturn with a telescrope, you can probably see this ring around it. Saturn has the ring that is the easiest to spot!

And here is the same one with a couple more details to it. Add some dots, some stars, and it becomes extra cute ♥

A super cute way to draw a planet with its ring this time… Or is it a planet really? Well, as you can see, it looks more like a cat lol. But you can be creative with it. When you draw a ring around it, it becomes a planet!

Space Rocket Drawing Idea

To make doodles related to space, you can also draw spaceships or rockets! Here’s a cute one with a cat inside. (i just like the idea of integrating cats with everything to be honest)

And here is another cute space rocket. Super easy to draw because it’s perfectly symmetrical. ♥

Wrap Up

And that’s it for today’s collection (at least for now).

Space is honestly one of my favorite things to draw because there’s so much creative freedom.. you can go realistic with all the facts we covered, or get super stylized and dreamy with it. Plus, now you’ve got all these cool facts to share when someone asks about your drawings!
Don’t forget to experiment with different materials too. Space drawings look amazing with colored pencils, markers, watercolors, or even just simple black ink.

As always, I’ll probably be adding more drawings to this article over time (because I can never stop myself from creating more content for you guys), so feel free to bookmark it and check back later! And if you have any specific space-related requests or want to see other drawing themes, just let me know. I love hearing from you!
