Lately I’ve been into drawing chibis on my pages. So of course, I had to create an article about it ! In this article, we’ll discover around 30 cute and easy chibi girl drawing ideas that you can get inspiration from and copy. Some of them are very easy, while others are a bit more complicated.

What is a Chibi ?
Chibi is a Japanese term often used to describe a specific art style characterized by small, exaggerated, and adorable features. It typically depicts characters with oversized heads, tiny bodies, and simplified details, giving them a cute, cartoonish appearance.
This style is commonly seen in anime, manga, and fan art, where it’s used to make characters look playful, funny, or endearing. Chibi drawings often emphasize emotions with expressive facial features, making them perfect for portraying humor or lighthearted moments.
The word “chibi” itself loosely translates to “small” or “tiny” in Japanese, and its charm lies in its ability to take even serious characters and make them irresistibly cute.
There are various ways of drawing chibis, and each of them come with their own proportions.

In this collection, we will discover different chibis with different propotions ! I won’t be making long descriptions over my drawings because most of them are very self explanatory and look alike 🙂
Simple Chibi & Tutorial

We’re starting with a very simple chibi girl: just standing with an oversized t-shirt (or a dress, depending on how you see it). You can follow the step by step tutorial right below to draw this little cutie:

Try following it to draw a very easy chibi! Hopefully you manage to get a result that you like.:)
Chibi Girl Step by Step (for Beginners)

Okay it’s time to go a bit more in depth with the tutorial of “how to draw a chibi girl”, right? The first tutorial doesn’t explain much and if you want to draw your own skeleton and change the pose, you need to understand how a chibi works. So let’s start from the very beginning!
Note: For this tutorial, make sure you don’t press too hard on your pencil, because you’ll need to erase a lot of construction lines through the whole tutorial. 🙂

To draw a chibi, we start with its skeleton. To make it easier for beginners, there is a simple trick: the head is a O, and the body is a A.
Step 1: Draw a “O” and a “A” on top of each other. The position where you draw the horizontal line shows where the legs of your chibi begin. For chibi girls, I like to have long legs, so i put it quite high.
Step 2: Now that you’re done with the body, there’s something missing, right?
The arms!
For this tutorial, we’ll draw the arms bent and resting on the hips.
With this, we’ve completed the base skeleton of our chibi. Quite simple, right?

Step 3: now, it’s time to give the body a bit of substance, because we’re not drawing stick figures, here. So let’s shape our chibi’s body. You can make your chibi thicker or thinner depending on your taste. I like “thick” legs for chibis so the legs. 🙂
Step 4: When you’re done with that, you can erase your construction lines (the skeleton of your chibi) and you’ll have the outline of your chibi’s body!

Step 5: Now lets focus on the head. Draw the ears, a little neck.. The cross I’ve drawn on the face shows were I want to place the eyes of my chibi.
Note: Don’t draw the eyes of your chibi too high on the face! The face of your chibi should sit on the lower half of its face, which gives it its cute iconic look.
Step 6: When you’re done refining the face, you can then draw the eyes and mouth. If you want, you can add a nose, but I prefer not to 🙂

And we’re done with the base of our chibi! If you want, you can use it for the next step – detailing.

For the details, you’ll need to choose a hairstyle, clothing and even accessories. There are so many to choose from and it will highly depend on your tastes! For this chibi girl, I made a simple one (on the left) and one with a little bit more details (on the right). Both should be easy for you to replicate ♥
Simple Girl

Next up: a simple chibi girl standing with her arms spread. She’s wearing a cute dress, which you can change easily if it’s too hard, or if you want more details.
Cute Chibi Face Step by Step
Let’s start our collection with a chibi face’s tutorial! Chibis can take many forms, but here, we’re going for something super simple. I’ve received a lot of requests asking for simple versions of chibi faces and girls, so I added some more simple concepts for you guys.
So you can check the whole collection for simple to more complex designs ♥

1. Draw a shallow U-shaped curve. This will form the bottom portion of the face, creating that characteristic rounded chibi face shape.
2. Add the top of the head by drawing two curved lines. It forms a round shape, completing the basic head outline with the bottom of the face (step 1), and the two curved lines representing the top of the hair.

3. Now let’s draw an upside down V shape where, around the area where the two curved lines we just drew connect. This forms the bangs of our chibi face. 🙂
4. Time to draw what’s left of the hair! Draw two strokes on the left side bang, and little waves on both sides of the bottom part of the face to represent long hair flowing down.

5. Now that we’re down with the foundation of the chibi’s head, let’s add details. First, add two ears on each side of the face. The shapes are similar to C (left ear) and D (right ear)!
6. Now, let’s add a super simple face! It doesn’t need to be super symmetrical (mine isn’t), it will still be cute no matter what!

And that’s it for our first step by step tutorial of a chibi face! Easy, right? You can add a body if you want, but we’ll stop here for this one. The next tutorial is a little more complicated!
Arms Crossed

Another simple chibi girl, but this time we’ll cross her arms in front of her chest. It might look complicated, but actually, crossing the arms is a nice way to avoid complicated things like arms and hands. A trick you can always use!
Smiling Half Body

This one is a cute chibi doodle you can draw easily in your journal whenever you want to add a reaction to something ! I use this kind of drawing in my journal.
Chibi Girl Raeding

This one is a super simple chibi reading a book. I realized I didn’t add much chibis doing some activities, so I wanted to add at least one lol. The nice thing with this chibi, is that the book takes a large part of the drawing – so many details are now hidden behind the book! That’s another trick for a quick and easy drawing~
Mini Chibi Doll

Next up, probably the simplest chibi you can draw : a 2 head chibi. This one can also be a super cute addition to a journal or a card that you write for a friend. ♥
Little Lady

This one was inspired by Misa from Death Note, a manga/anime I liked when I was younger. If you don’t know it, I seriously recommend it to anyone! It’s super cool – but a little dark. It looks less like a chibi because the proportions are closer to human than the others, but it’s still considered a chibi, just with different proportions (refer to the top of this article to know more!)
Witch

This witch chibi is one of the bigger chibis, with a ratio of 3 heads! You can make it a smaller chibi by giving her a smaller body easily. Perfect for a little Halloween doodle.
Sakura Chibi

Sakura is my all time favorite character. She brings me so many fond memories of when I was watching Card Captor Sakura as a child. If you want more drawings like this, check this article!
She’s harder to draw because of the amount of details, but I’m sure you can do it!
Mushroom Princess

Here is another cute chibi. Even though the proportions are not very chibi like, it’s also hard to tell where is the body and where is the mushroom, so I count it as a chibi! I like drawing hybrids of all sorts of things, lol.
Mini Sakura

Again, if you like Sakura, there is a more simple version of a Sakura Chibi you can try. It looks a little weird without eyes though, so you might wanna add a pair of eyes to it. 😮
Little Girl

Here is one drawing that you can also find in the anime girl drawing ideas list. I think children proportions in animes/mangas are very close to chibis, and this one could be considered both. If you want to see more anime girls, I definitely recommend checking out my other article about it. 🙂
Sitting Chibis
Now let’s explore sitting chibis and different sitting positions. Some will be easier than others, just take your time and try your best!

Let’s start up with this one! If you have difficulties, you can trace my drawing at first. I always avoid drawing the hands completely for chibis, as it adds a layer of complexity that is not really useful in chibis, especially for a list of easy drawing ideas.

Another sitting chibi with a slightly different position, but very similar ! It is just a little more laid back. This one has a thumb on her hand! A way to simply convey a little more details to hands without making it too complex.

Another sitting chibi, another position ! This one is crossing her legs, which can be a bit easier to draw if you hide parts of the legs (with the dress like I did in the drawing for example)

Again another sitting position, and this one is my favorite. It looks so relaxed and is actually easier to draw than it looks. I hid the hands between the legs, so you don’t even have to try drawing hands, haha
Laying Chibi

If you want to represent a nap in your journal or a tiring day, you can also draw a cute chibi sleeping!
Happy Sleeping

Another cute sleeping chibi drawing idea, but this one looks quite happy!
Running Chibi

Let’s add a bit of movement with this chibi running ! It looks difficult but is actually way easier to draw than it looks.
Simply Standing

Let’s draw another chibi standing with a tad more complicated outfit this time.
Chibi Girl Base

If you want a base to practice with, you can use this one. I also used it for the chibi girl I drew on the right. Isn’t she cute? ♥
Chibi Girl Waving

Here is another chibi girl drawing idea that is a little more complex! Look at her hands – there is a lot of details. Even just drawing all the fingers is something I haven’t done in this list so far lol. I think it’s a nice one to try if you want to practice.
You can also discover it and more in the anime girl drawing ideas:

Cute Chibi Head Tutorial
We’ve discovered another of these tutorial earlier on, here is a second one for those who want something on the simple side.

1. Draw a U shape, but stop before completely finishing it, since we’re not drawing the face fully from the front view. We’re leaving some space for the ear!
2. Now draw the ear where you left space (not finishing the U shape). It’s an inverted C shape, super easy! 🙂

3. Draw a wavy / choppy, slightly uneven line across the top for the bangs. This creates a cute fringe hairstyle that falls across the forehead. You could also make it super even for another look, it’s up to you.
4. Now let’s draw the top of the head with two curved lines joining each other at the top. It represent the top of the head, but also the two strand of hair on top of our chibi’s head.

5. Add two small bow or ribbon shapes on top of the head, positioned on either side. These will be the base decorations for the space buns
6. Draw two large, rounded circular shapes on each side of the head to create cute space buns. These puffy bun shapes should be positioned just behind where the bows are.

To finish up our little face, we add the facial features – two small dots or ovals for eyes positioned in the lower half of the face.
And we’re done with our chibi girl! On the right, I added a happy body shape to it and changed up the eyes to fit the mood – isn’t it cute? You can also go for a more simple look to match the regular oval eyes.
Cute Chibi Reading

Here’s another simple idea. Taking the tutorial we’ve just been through for a 3/4 profile view of the chibi face, it’s easy to achieve this result as well!
2 Head Cutie

If you like the very tiny proportions, this is a cute 2 head chibi you can try drawing~
Idol Chibi

This one is one of the most complicated ones of this collection, with the leg up in the air and the arms spread. I wanted to make it look like an idol !
Sleeping

Andddd another sleeping chibi in another position as well. This one is actually surprisingly easy! Help yourself with the grid behind if you’re not sure about the perspective.
Walking

A relatively tall 3 head chibi walking around! Not many details on this one, but just enough to make it look a little complex~
Colored Chibi

Another 3 head chibi but in another style. You can see I drew a larger lower body versus a very tiny upper body. You can play around with proportions in this way as well! (it’s my favorite way of drawing chibis, with what we can call “pony legs” lol)
Butterfly Chibi

A little bit of fantasy added to this collection by drawing this Butterfly chibi girl (or is it a fairy?)

Another butterfly chibi girl, who can not speak! She makes me think of Miffy. ♥ If you know, you know!
Cute Trio

Are these triplets, or is it the same chibi in different positions? In any case, isn’t it a super cute drawing to try ? I wanted to add a chibi that you can draw in multiple positions. It’s always nice to be able to draw the same character under different angles!
Sheep Chibi

A cute sheep chibi girl standing on her plushie. Don’t ask me where this idea comes from – I don’t know myself. She was originally gonna jump on a trampoline, but I then thought a trampoline was too hard to draw.
Jellyfish Chibi

And this is the last chibi drawing for this collection ! I love coloring with watercolors and this is one of my many tries at it with this cute jellyfish chibi girl.
Sana Chibi Dancing

Our last drawing of this list, for now! Do you know Kodocha? (Kodomo no Omocha) If you do, you most likely recognize this chibi. I learned to draw this cutie when I was a child watching Kodocha, lol. Literally, they teach us how to draw this in the anime. So I thought it would be nice to let you know, in case you have never watched it!
You can follow these steps:

Super easy, and super cute! ♥
NOTES * I saw that many don’t know how to write “chibi” and end up searching for “chiby drawing ideas”; so i’m adding a couple of alternative tags to help you out finding the article for the next time! ♥

Wrap Up
And that’s it for this collection of chibi girls ! Did you like it ? I really enjoyed drawing them all.
Maybe next time I can focus on chibi boys, but you can also make requests and I can try to honor them to the best of my ability~
As always, thank you so much for reading me and I hope you could get some inspiration for your next doodles. Don’t hesitate to check out my related articles and other drawing ideas for always more inspiration!
