Hey there ♥
As you might’ve seen, I’ve published a lot of crafts and DIY tutorials nowadays on the blog, and focused less on drawing ideas. Some of you have requested for topics for my next drawing articles though, so I decided to pick up some and work on them!
So today, we’re exploring a collection of drawing ideas of foxes! As always, you’ll have a mix of tutorials, step by step guides and more. I actually love foxes and the creative freedom you can take with them, because they’re such aesthetic creatures in my opinion~
Materials
- Use a pencil and an eraser to sketch your doodle first
- Then go over your initial sketch with an ink pen of your choice
- When the ink has dried out, erase the sketch under it
- Done!
Ready ? Let’s go! 🙂
Fox Face Tutorial Step by Step
Let’s start with learning how to draw a very simple fox’s face step by step.
Step 1

Start with a curved line for the bottom of the fox’s face. This creates a nice, rounded chin and lower jaw area.
Step 2

Add a curved dome shape on top by drawing an arc from one side to the other. Now you have the complete basic head shape!
Step 3

Time for the signature fox ears! Draw two pointed triangular shapes on top of the head. Place them symmetrically on either side with the points facing upward – this is what gives our fox that distinctive look!
Step 4

Let’s give our fox some attitude! Draw two short diagonal lines for furrowed eyebrows (slightly angled downward toward the center), a small dot for the nose, and a tiny “^” shape for the mouth.
Step 5

Now let’s add depth to those ears. Fill in the inner portions of each ear with solid black, but leave a white outline around the edges. This shows the inner ear detail and makes the ears really pop!

And we’re finished! Go over all your lines in bold black ink to complete your fox drawing. You can add a small heart above the fox’s head for extra cuteness if you’d like! 💜

Bonus: Try drawing a happy version too by replacing the grumpy eyebrows with round dot eyes and the ^-mouth with a curved smile! It gives your fox a different look ♥
Fox Watching the Stars

Okay so the first drawing idea was an easy one, and this one is a bit more complicated! This is a fox sitting and watching the stars. It’s kinda poetic~
Cute Fox Reading
Now let’s draw some cute foxes reading. Kinda similar to chibi foxes I guess!

The first one is an idea you must’ve seen everywhere on Pinterest, with bear, bunnies and other animals. Here is the fox version, a fox reading a book while laying on its belly.

And here is a fox reading a book for beginners. It’s easy: start by drawing a fox’s face (you can use the tutorial we’ve just learned), then draw an open book. This way, you don’t have to draw the complex body of the fox. Easy and cute! For book lovers ♥
Simple Fox Face

Here’s another type of fox’s face for those who want to draw more faces of cute foxes. You can add as many details as you want.
Simple Hungry Fox

On a funnier note, we can draw a hungry fox. Sitting and grumpy, it’s thinking about its next chicken leg. Actually, I’ve been following a creator on TikTok who feeds foxes everyday, and this idea came from there~
Standing Fox

For those who are feeling up to a challenge, you can try drawing a fox standing. Drawing an animal on all fours is not easy, but the details are really minimal and foxes are quite similar to cats in some ways. Take your time! ♥
Geometric & Aesthetic Fox

If you’re feeling creative, this is an aesthetic way to draw a fox. I love drawing foxes like this, beause it’s easy and has such a nice vibe to it. It’s very geometric and barely uses any curves. To make this, try to stick to straight lines as much as possible.
Cute Fox

And if you’re a fan of the curvier look and don’t like the geometric style, here is a cute and easy fox standing on all fours. Super adorable ♥
Sleepy Fox

Now I know that drawing the face of a fox isn’t hard. You know another thing that’s relatively easy? A fox sleeping! Look at this, there’s barely any details.
Sleeping Fox Tutorial Step by Step
And if you’re into it, here is a tutorial for those who want to learn how to draw a sleeping fox step by step.
Note: each new step is in black, and the previous steps are shown in grey.
Step 1

Let’s start simple! Draw an oval shape. The top part should be rounder compared to the bottom part. This will be the head of our sleeping buddy.
Step 2

Time to add ears! Draw two triangular shapes on top of the oval. Position them slightly apart. They can be drooping more than what I’ve drawn, to show a super relaxed look.
Step 3

Now let’s add some detail to those ears. Draw two strokes inside each ear to show the inner ear. This gives them more depth.
Step 4

Now let’s draw the curve for the body. It will be mostly hidden in the end, so don’t push too hard on your pencil when you draw it!
Step 5

What’s a fox without its fluffy tail? Draw a big oval shape. The tail should rest near the fox’s body and cover part of its face since it’s all curled up and cozy. The bigger the tail, the smaller the fox will look.
Step 6

Time to add the closed eyes. It’s super easy, just draw two diagonal strokes on your fox’s face ♥
Result

To wrap it up, I add little hearts and “zzz” letters around it. I also color the ears mostly in black and add little details. And we’re done with the line work!

Now you can add color if you want, following the usual color pattern of foxes. You can check it up on Internet if you want, here’s mine!
Sitting Fox
Okay now that we’ve drawn a couple of foxes sleeping, it’s time to draw them sitting!

This one is a cute and fluffy one, it even looks kind! When temperatures drop low, the fur of foxes tend to fluff up to be able to withstand the cold. They become so cute, reallyl.

And here is a much skinnier one, with obviously less fur on its body. Its head almost makes it look like a wolf, actually, doesn’t it? When you remove the details of a fox, it can either look like a cat of a miniature wolf, it’s super interesting.

And here is the last sitting fox of this short section! This one looks like a young fox. When they’re born, they’re blind, deaf, and weigh about as much as a stick of butter. Talk about a glow-up when they grow up into those fluffballs!
Stylized Aesthetic Fox

Here some very stylized and aesthetic take on a standing fox – it makes me think of Redd in Animal Crossing but its pretty version, lol. If you don’t know Redd, here he is:

Anyway, on to the next fox drawing idea~

And here is the last drawing of today’s collection: a super easy fox watching the stars. We’ve discovered one version of a fox watching stars earlier in this collection, and this is the easy version of it. ♥
