Fields of Mistria offers a really nice farm sim experience with its enchanting art style, engaging characters, and a touch of magic. It’s easy to see why fans of Stardew Valley and similar cozy games are drawn to its blend of farming, adventuring, and relationship-building.
But what if you’re looking for more games that bring that same warm and fuzzy feeling of building your own farm, connecting with quirky townsfolk, and finding your place in a vibrant, charming world? Well, that’s why I’m back with this new article today ! While some of you guys might be getting tired of farm sim games, others can’t get enough of them. So let’s look at some recommendations : here are 10 cozy farming games that capture the same magic, perfect for fans of Fields of Mistria!
Fields of Mistria: A New Cozy Classic in the Making
Fields of Mistria is a charming farming sim that captures the heart and soul of the genre while adding its own unique vibe. Released in 2024, this game quickly made a name for itself among fans of cozy farming adventures, offering a blend of relaxing gameplay, vibrant pixel art, and enchanting storytelling.
“Mistria, an idyllic village tucked between forest and sea, has offered the player an overgrown but full-of-potential homestead in exchange for their assistance. The player will help to restore the town to its former glory after an earthquake wreaks havoc and strange magic begins to flow through the land.”
With its mix of traditional farming mechanics and subtle nods to fantasy, the game feels both nostalgic and refreshingly new.
Field of Mistria also came with a very similar price tag to Stardew Valley, so it was no surprise that people welcomed it warmly (compared to Fae Farm and its hefty price tag of nearly 60$ originally). Affordable and cozy, can we ask for more ? Oh- yes. Not too similar to Stardew Valley. And Fields of Mistria did that surprisingly well! We can feel the inspiration and overall vibe of Stardew Valley (mixed with the old Harvest Moon), but Fields of Mistria really adds to the genre instead of just feeling like another copy. But let’s talk about Stardew Valley while we’re at it.
1. Stardew Valley
Stardew Valley is the first game that we will talk about on this list of “Games similar to Fields of Mistria“. But is it fair to compare both in this way, when we know that Fields of Mistria was heavily inspired by Stardew Valley ?
Well, just know that if you started playing cozy games with Fields of Mistria, another gem in this kind is Stardew Valley. While it is not the first cozy farm sim game in the industry, Stardew Valley truly reshaped the genre and everything that came after.
2. Coral Island
Plant and harvest crops, care for animals, and build meaningful relationships with the island’s residents. Beyond your farm, take on the challenge of restoring the island’s vibrant coral reefs, breathing new life into its underwater ecosystem.
With a focus on preserving the charm of classic farming games, Coral Island adds a modern, inclusive touch. The game features a rich and diverse cast of characters and incorporates themes of environmental stewardship into its gameplay. It’s a wholesome, feel-good experience that invites players to create, connect, and make a difference—all while enjoying the laid-back rhythm of island life.
Plus, if you want the cozy farming experience without the pixel art aspect of it, Coral Island is a good game to try ! It has a very cute art style that I personally really like.
3. My Time at Sandrock
This game is a blend of farming, crafting, and adventure has you restoring your workshop in a post-apocalyptic yet charming world. If you’ve never heard about it, you might have heard of “My Time at Portia”. Well, both games are similar, but in general, players agree on the fact that My Time at Sandrock is much better. It’s less glitchy, more stable, and the NPCs are overall better as well.
If you’re hesitating between both games, you should definitely get My Time at Sandrock instead of Portia. 100%!
4. Luma Island
Luma Island is a new cozy adventure game that came out in November 2024. You’ll choose your profession and start a journey to build your perfect little (or big) home. You can play it alone or with up to 3 other players. The game has really nice graphics and runs well on computer as well as on Steam Deck.
The game itself is worth getting, but only if you like grinding. The grind in this game is quite extreme (the time it takes to get wood, for example) and you need to be prepared for that. If you like this aspect of games, you’re in for a treat!
5. Sun Haven
Sun Haven is a pixel fantasy farming sim mixed with magic and dragons. On the paper, it sounds amazing, doesn’t it ?
As in nearly all the cozy farming sim nowadays, you can fish, farm, romance the NPCs, go to town, to the mines, forage, level up your skills and more. If you’ve liked playing Fields of Mistria, it’s a nice alternative to try !
And for the fans of collecting, you can collect plushies, fish and pets, which I really love.
6. Roots of Pacha
Roots of Pacha is another pixel cozy farming sim. It takes a different approach than many others though, as it is set in the stone age. If you want to re-play Fields of Mistria of Stardew Valley with an interesting take, you can try Roots of Pacha and see if you like the stone age aspect !
It has quite a slow pace, but has a nice story and is overall a good game.
7. Wylde Flowers
Wylde Flowers is yet another cozy farming sim with a witchy twist. This game starts off like all the usual farming sim do, but you learn after a bit of time that you’re actually… a witch !
What I really like about Wylde Flowers is the voice acting. A lot of effort has been put into it, and you can really feel it. It makes the whole vibe completely different and made me play the game way longer than I should’ve during my first session. Overall, the game is a really nice experience that I really recommend. If you have Apple Arcade, don’t hesitate to try it out!
A note to keep in mind though : it is more story driven and will give you less freedom!
8. Palia
Palia is a massively-multiplayer sim game set in a fantasy world. In the game, you’ll build a life, explore the world, and make a lot of new friends. I really wanted to put Palia in this list because first, it’s free (with optional paid cosmetics), and second, it’s quite good.
I’m hoping it will get better in the future with the upcoming updates, as I stopped playing for now (I do not like the coop mode because you can’t share your farm with your game partner). I would really like if the coop mode could be worked on a bit!
You can meet new people while playing Palia, but don’t worry if you don’t want to – it’s absolutely optional and you don’t need to speak to others to get to the end game content.
9. Everdream Valley
Everdream Valley is another farming adventure. But just like Wylde Flowers, it’s mixed with a bit of magic.
During the day, you’ll do what you do in all farming sim : cultivate your crops, tend to animals, and take care of your farm. But when night falls… it’s time to bring enchantment to the valley and venture into the realm of dreams.
Everdream Valley is a nice game, but you’ll have to try hard to get a hang of it. The explanations given in the game are not particularly helpful! If you’re interested in this game, I would recommend waiting a bit for fixes and changes – as well as a good sale.
10. Fae Farm
Fae Farm is the last cozy farming sim game we will talk about today ! This game is a visually really beautiful game. The areas and towns are well designed, and I love the seasons. I love the mining experience in farming sim games in general, and the experience was really nice in Fae Farm.
A very big con of this game though is the price tag. It is extremely expensive for this kind of game and content, and the most expensive game on this list by far. Another con would be, for me, the story. It is a bit shallow in my opinion, and I wasn’t really attracted to the NPCs.
If you can get it for a very big discount, I would totally recommend you try it out though!
Wrap Up
That’s it for today’s article! Do you like farming sim games ? I used to really like them because I’ve always liked playing cozy games, but nowadays, I’m looking for something else.
I just want a cozy game that feels different and in which I won’t actually have to farm for once, but still have this simulation aspect. If you have any recommendation for me, I’m all ears!
As always, thank you so much for reading me, and don’t hesitate to check out my other articles for more recommendations~
