Most readers of my blog already have read and seen my chibi girl drawing ideas’ article, and many of you guys were asking me for the boy version. Actually, I started working on it at the same time as the girl one (which is last year I believe lol), but I never took the time to put everything in an article.
AND TODAY, I’m here to fix it – so get ready to draw cute chibi / anime boys, because I’ve got a collection of more than 30 of them!~♥

As always, I’ll be adding more to the collection with time. Some of them will be presented in the form of chibi boy step by step tutorial, and some of them will be available as bases you can use to try drawing your own. In any case, I hope you can learn a little bit with the article and you’ll find something nice to draw. 🙂
Chibi Boy Tutorial Step by Step
Let’s start with a simple tutorial on how to draw a chibi boy, because that’s why you’re here!

1. Start with the foundation of your chibi. Draw a circle, and the letter A under your circle. It should overlap a little bit. For the proportions, make sure the circle is big enough compared to the A, because we want the head to be big and cute!
2. Once you’re done with your foundation, you can draw on top of it to refine the body of your chibi: remove the top of the letter A, and give some thickness to this body and legs!

3. Now we need to add the arms to our chibi. I don’t detail the hands on my chibi in general, but I do sometimes detail the thumb. So basically, it looks like a mitten! one part for the thumb, and another part for the rest of the fingers.
4. Then, we add some more details: the face and the ears.
Once you’re done with these steps, you have the base of your chibi! You can now make whatever you want with it. Dress it up, add some hair, and…

You have a cute chibi boy! Of course, you can change up the clothes and hair the way you want. The same goes with the expression of the face, or even the whole pose of the chibi. ♥
Cute Chibi Boy Running

Now a chibi drawing idea, and we’re starting with a pretty cute one, and I actually had a girl version of this one in the girl chibi collection, I believe! It’s a pretty simple way to draw a character running I think, and it’s always nice to have movement in a drawing ♥
In this collection as you’ve understood, we’ll alternate both tutorial and drawing ideas. 🙂 You can use the tutorials (like the one we’ve just learned) to draw the drawing ideas in the collection!
Anime Chibi Boy Base

A little bit less chibi and more anime, but still super stylized and with minimal details! The base is supposed to look a little bit towards the sky, but if you want to change it, you can just change the position of the ears slightly, as well as the angle of the jaw.
Since the base is not very detailed (in terms of shape of the head, etc), it’s super easy to draw on top of it whatever you wanna draw (even a girl if you wish to!)

Here is the base alone for those who need it! You can save it and use it. If you don’t have an iPad to draw on top of it, you can also print it. 🙂
Kawaii Chibi Boys

Okay this one is lowkey a kpop chibi – and actually, as I was drawing it, he made me think of V from BTS a little bit. (if you see it, thank you lol) the hairband gives him the look, I think. :c
but probably this guy here I made for a friend looks more like a kpop boy:

Anyway – that’s out of the subject, hehe, let’s go back to easy chibi boys:

And here is another one, with a super cute pose that I personally really like. It makes him look like a little keychain you can wiggle around. (or at least that was the intended look) – hopefully you can see it.
How to Draw a Chibi Boy Step by Step
Sooo back to tutorial material – with a new “how to draw a chibi boy”. We’ve learned how to draw a front facing, standing chibi boy with a circle & the letter A at the beginning of the article.
We’re gonna take the same concept and change the position a little bit, so you can learn to make various positions with the same principles.

On top left of the image, you see the basic “O & A” standing chibi skeleton base we drew at the beginning of the article, in the first tutorial. We’ll be using the same principle to start our new one!
1. Start by drawing a circle and the beginning of the letter A, but do not draw the second leg (here on the right).
2. We’re gonna draw the second leg in another position! In this tutorial, we’ll draw in in front of the other leg, floating in the air. Just like our character was kicking his leg in the air. 🙂

Now that we’re done with the legs, let’s draw his two arms. Since I’m going for a happy vibe with the leg kicking in the air, let’s draw the arms in the air as well!

Now that the skeleton is done, we can refine our drawing by giving it substance: drawing the arms with hands, making the legs thicker than just the strokes we drew. Follow the skeleton!~

And we can now give some details to the face as well by adding his eyes, and ears. When you’re done with that, you’ve got your base! (as you can see on the right) 🙂
The base of this chibi is a bit more than 2 heads (almost 2.5), which means you can put around 2.5 times the chibi’s head from the top of his head to his feet! (see red arrows)

Now that we have our base, we can refine it even more by adding the usual details: an outfit, and some hair of course~ And we’re done! A super cute boy chibi that’s also easy to draw whenever you feel like it!
Classy Chibi Boy

Since I keep drawing chibi boys wearing shorts or really casual clothing style, I wanted to draw some sort of suit or more of an elegant vibe. ANd here he is. With the hands in the pockets to make sure I never have to draw them fully, hihi (even though I always draw my chibi hands as little circles anyways…)
Chibi Boys & Books

For book lovers, here is one chibi boy reading! Really easy and cute

I drew a couple more chibi boys with books – because I seem to really enjoy drawing chibis and books, lol. Already in the girl collection, I drew a couple of them. I don’t know why, I just like it. You can often hide parts of the body with objects and I think a book is super easy to draw, so yeah. 🙂

And here is more of a confused one – probably reading something he doesn’t understand quite fully… but what could that be? In any case, he’s super cute, isn’t he? ♥
Chibi Boy Sitting

I’ve drawn a lot of girls sitting in the chibi girls collection, but for the boys, we’ll have only one right now. To be honest, if you want to draw a chibi sitting, you can check out my chibi girls and change up their hairstyle. ♥
Simple Chibi Boy Standing

A super simple straight forward chibi boy standing! He’s looking straight at us, which makes it easy to draw – no perspective, no weird eye shape, no nothing! cute and easy ♥
Cute Chibi Boy Portrait
Let’s draw some simple chibi boy portraits next!

Here’s a super simple one – but if drawing a jacket like this is too hard, you can just keep it simple without the extra details to it and make it a t-shirt! 🙂

Here is one chibi boy who’s shyly smiling – see how many emotions you can let shine through a couple of lines? You can kinda feel he’s shy or embarrassed by the angle of his eyebrows. But he definitely looks kind!

And here is another one who’s probably up to no good – it looks like he just did something he’s not supposed to do and trying to convince you it’s absolutely not his fault, lol. And this one has a different hairstyle, too. 🙂
Cute Chibi Boy Base

This one is another chibi boy base. There are many like these all over the Internet actually, and they’re even often use as avatar maker – like Picrew (by the way if you don’t know Picrew you should definitely check it out)
Cool Chibi Boy

I haven’t put anything really cool in this collection so far, and kept drawing really simple chibis. So I decided to draw more of a cool one, one that you can see in your favorite shonen manga, you know? It looks like he would be a good fighter~
Chibi’s Emotions
As we saw previously, you can draw many different emotions through eyes, eyebrowws, and mouths. Here are some examples:

The first one looks annoyed, bored – no positive emotion; while the second one looks happy, amazed with a hint of shyness (given away by the eyebrows). I’m always amazed by how little details change the whole vibe of a drawing.

And here are two faces that look super similar from the top half, but their mouth change the whole feeling about it ! While the top one looks uncomfortable, disgusted (or well, at least something negative); the second one looks like he’s just laughing. lol

And a last one to show you can also display emotions through body language and poses. Here, you can already clearly see on the chibi’s face that he looks sad. But when you see his hands, you can even tell that he probably did something bad, and doesn’t want to be scolded. ♥
Aesthetic Chibi Boy Portrait Step by Step
For those who are up for a challenge, let’s draw some more of an aesthetic chibi boy!

Start with the face and ears : it should look similar to a cup with two handles. Then, you can add little feet (which will be the neck of our boy drawing).
In second step, draw the hair of your character. You don’t have to follow precisely the hair I’ve drawn – there are many drawings in this collection and you could just copy one of them if you prefer!

Now, let’s draw it’s shirt. We don’t draw too much details, just enough to recognize he’s wearing a shirt. And lastly, draw the face! As you can see, I don’t put many details on the face either – to be honest, it kinda gives the aesthetic look I’m going for anyway. ♥

I add little sparkles and stars to make it look even more cool, and we’re done ♥ An aesthetic chibi / anime boy drawing idea ♥
Aesthetic Chibi Boy Portraits

Here’s another one you can try that is super easy. And I just LOVE the micro bang, it’s super cute in my opinion. ~
Chibi Boy Portrait Tutorial
Now, let’s draw an EVEN easier chibi portrait step by step. This one is super easy and still super cute!

This is the final outcome – what we want to draw. You should follow the steps below to get this result. ♥

1. Draw a U shape
2. Draw little strokes that represent the bangs of the hairstyle right on top of the U shape – as always, you can change it up!

3. Now, time to draw the ears on both sides of the U we draw previously.
4. On top of it, from one ear to the otner, draw a semi circle. It should be high enough – remember, we have our whole brain under this mass of hair!

5. Time to draw the face! We stick to simplicity: two oval shapes and a little stroke for the mouth
6. Lastly, we draw some sparkles, stars, as well as the shape of the boy’s upper body (which is optional – you can stick to just the face!)
Annd you’re done with your cute and easy chibi boy portrait! ♥
Aesthetic Anime Chibi Boys
Here I’ve literally put all the aesthetic anime chiby boys I’ve drawn. I drew them at the same time as I drew the aesthetic girls I’ve drawn for the aesthetic girls’ article!

A cute and simple boy with quite messy hair looking slightly towards the left. It’s super easy because the messier the hair, the better, lol.

This one might be a little hard because of the perspective. The boy is looking up AND towards behind him, in an almost weird position (but aesthetic in my opinion). You know, this kind of pose you only make for instagram pictures? lol

Here’s an easier one: just a cute anime boy looking straight at us!

This one has a super easy face to draw – and hair as well, since it’s just jet black -, but the clothing might be a bit difficult. It’s meant to be an oversized knit with a shirt underneath. The nice thing with black hair like this is that if you make a mistake, it’s invisible, since you’ll color it fully black anyways!

And the last of my aesthetic boy drawing ideas will be this one (for now at least!). He looks properly bored, which I really like tbh lol. He’s just fed up with my nonsense, I think;;;
Chibi Vampire

A chibi vampire, because why not? lol
Cute Chibi Face

And lastly for this collection and because I did not know where to put it, a cute chibi face. He actually makes me think a little of Harry Potter, probably because of the round glasses, hehe.
Wrap Up
Annnd that’s it for this collection! a whole collection of chibi boy ideas to keep you drawing for a while!~♥
I really hope you found something fun to draw from this article, whether you followed the step-by-step tutorials or used the bases to create your own unique characters. The best part about chibi boys is that they’re SO expressive and fun to experiment with!As I mentioned earlier, I’ll keep adding more to this collection over time (because let’s be real, I can never stop drawing chibis lol). So feel free to bookmark this page and come back whenever you need some fresh inspiration!
If you draw any of these boys, I’d LOVE to see what you create! And if you have any requests for future tutorials or specific poses/expressions you’d like to see, drop a comment below and let me know. 🙂
