Cats are really cute and funny creatures. Did you know that there is a rumor that the manga stylization of humans was based on cat’s faces?

For me, doodling cats is just really fun. You can easily make a cute cat drawing because they are naturally cute. Also, cat’s bodies are so flexible and soft that you can imagine and draw a lot of weird poses.

In today’s article, we will focus on the main poses that you’d see in cats’ easy drawings! Hopefully, you will get a few ideas from them!

Never forget that it is okay to find it difficult or to mess up, and practice will make it better! You can copy any of the drawings you see in this article. If it makes it easier for you, start by tracing them! Let’s dive into it 🙂

A Cat Step by Step

Let’s start with drawing a cat step by step! I think it’s important to start with some sort of tutorial, so you can apply if for the upcoming drawings as well. Start with the head’s shape. You can draw it by making an oval, and then two triangles on top of it. Add the details to your cat’s face right after, and then try the body! In this case, we will draw the cat sitting. Cats have four legs, but one of them is hidden in this drawing because the body is in a profile position. Continue by drawing the tail, and you have your cute cat drawing!

Cute Cat with a Leaf on Its Head

Next up: a cute sitting cat with a leaf on its head. Making a cat’s drawing a little cuter can be easy by adding a little feature. In this case: the leaf! You can see this kind of little addition a lot in the “cute drawing” community. Adding a little leaf to your drawing will definitely add a cute vibe to it. In this drawing, the back leg isn’t showing, but you can add it easily! I just decided not to. So you can see that, even if you decide not to add some details, the cat is still very recognizable! 🙂

Cat Dreaming of Fish

This cat is even more stylized than what we’ve seen so far! The details have basically disappeared to leave a very simple shape which still conveys the right idea : the cat is laying on the floor, with its eyes closed. And dreaming of his next dish! 🐟

Grumpy Cat

Do you know the famous “Grumpy Cat”? It’s a cat that looks naturally grumpy because of its facial features.

You can easily reproduce its facial features by focusing on the eyes. Draw a horizontal line, then half a circle under it! 🙂 It’s super easy, and it really translates the vibe of the grumpy cat well.

Cat Eating Fish

Remember that cat dreaming of the next fish it would eat ? Now we have a cat eating a fish! This cat’s drawing has more detail to it, but you can also just remake the third drawing, open its eyes and draw a fish in its mouth easily. Anyway, this cat looks very happy to be eating!

Cat Sitting

This time, let’s draw a cat sitting from a profile view. Not only the body is oriented towards the side, but the head as well, this time !

Basic Cat Drawing

This cat’s head is the simplest cat drawing idea you can see. Basically, it’s made of a soft rectangle shape, and two triangles on top. Then, you draw the facial features, and you have a very simple cat doodle!

A Cat Stretching

Cats have this habit of stretching ! It looks very similar to yoga poses. To me, it always looks so cute and effortless, I really like it. So let’s try to draw this pose with this drawing idea ! You can also make the eyes of the cat closed for this one !

A Flying Cat

Okay this one is a silly but very simple cat drawing idea : a cat flying. You just see its belly and four legs spread out, and you can easily imagine that it’s either flying or jumping an impossible jump.

And if you want a similar idea, here’s this one! It looks more like the cat is jumping, it’s super silly, and super cute in my opinion. I love silly drawings, because they’re easy but still look cool.

Cat With a Ball

This one is a cat playing with a ball ! Or more like protecting a ball, I would say. Isn’t it cute ?

A Cat Falling

This cat clearly failed its jump and is falling. But you know what they say: cats always end up on their feet. This pose is a little more complicated because of the perspective, so don’t feel discouraged if you can’t get it right immediately.

A Cat Sleeping

This sleeping cat’s position is the easiest sleeping cat drawing idea you can imagine. Instead of drawing the full body, you can just hide it, and hide the legs with a big tail. It still represents a sleeping cat really well though, doesn’t it ?

And here’s another one! This time, you see the legs, but it’s still super simple to draw. Plus, adding the “zzz” really makes it clear: this cat is not to be disturbed.

Cat Stretching

And to complete the sleeping cat doodles, why not adding a cat stretching? This is probably a pose you see a loooot if you have a cat. They just love to stretch – everywhere, anytime.

A Standing Cat

You won’t see a cat standing like this very often I think, but it’s a nice way to imagine we could see a cat in video games (like in Animal Crossing, for example) ! Standing on two legs, talking and all that. They look so cute, don’t they?

A Cat Watching a Butterfly

When you draw a cat, you can imagine a lot of possibilities as to what to add to your drawing to make it funnier, more cute or more original. In this case, I added a butterfly. You can see that the cat is very cautious rather than curious because its head stays relatively back on its shoulder.

A Cat Taking a Nap

This cat’s sleeping position drawing idea is probably the most difficult one. The front legs make it a little difficult to reproduce, but it represents a very natural sleeping position quite well. As you might know, cats have a tons of different sleeping positions.

Cat’s Silhouette

If you don’t want to bother with too much detail, just fill your drawing with plain color, and it gives you a silhouette!

A Snob Cat Sitting

This cat is the first cat we have that is sitting completely from the front view! 🙂 As you can see, it’s very easy to draw a cat like this! Also, drawing the facial features higher on the face makes it look like the cat is looking up, or in this case, makes it look a bit snobby. But the base of this drawing can be a really good base for any sitting cat.

Cute Cat

This drawing idea is of a cute cat’s head shape and features. It has more details than the previous one but is still very easy. The big eyes of this cat make it look very cute!

Our last sleeping cat drawing idea for now ! Isn’t it cute ? I added the pink color for the ears, and of course you can do that for all the other drawings of this list very easily.

A Simple Cat

I realized while drawing these cats and making these cats’ drawing ideas and I didn’t draw any cat standing. I didn’t think about it at all, actually! So, I decided to add one very simple one! 🙂 You can tweak the position slightly, make the back longer / less round to give another vibe to the drawing ! Also, the tail of this cat is very short. Don’t hesitate to make it longer!

A Cat’s Paw

Let’s follow up on this collection with a cat’s paw! This is, for me, the cutest feature of a cat. Their paws are so soft and cute! 😭I wish it was easier to touch their little paws. Usually, they don’t like it much.
