Looking for cute drawing ideas that are actually easy to follow? You’re in the right place! This collection features 100+ cute drawing ideas with step-by-step tutorials perfect for beginners. We’ll draw adorable animals, kawaii food, simple characters & quick doodles ♥ I’ve got you covered with easy-to-follow instructions and helpful tips, as always!
Every tutorial on this page comes from drawings I’ve worked on – and trust me, it took some time, lol. As a self-taught artist who loves all things cute and cozy, I’ve spent years learning what makes drawings adorable and easy to recreate. Now I’m sharing everything I’ve discovered with you – from the simplest 5-minute doodles to more detailed step-by-step guides.
Why These Cute Drawing Ideas Are Perfect for Beginners
Here’s the thing about learning to draw – it’s way easier when you’re actually excited about what you’re creating. That’s why I focus on cute drawings. There’s something about drawing adorable things that just makes the whole process more fun and less intimidating.
When I first started drawing, I’d see these amazing realistic portraits and think “I’ll never be able to do that.” But cute drawings? They’re different. They use simple shapes, forgiving lines, and honestly, sometimes the “imperfect” parts make them even cuter. A wobbly circle becomes a chubby little character. A slightly crooked smile adds personality. It’s hard to mess up when you’re going for cute!
Every tutorial in this guide is designed with beginners in mind because I remember what it’s like to be starting out. I’ve included:
- Clear step-by-step instructions – No confusing art jargon, just simple steps anyone can follow
- Different difficulty levels – Some drawings take 2 minutes, others take 15. You choose based on your mood
- My actual mistakes and fixes – I’ll tell you what I messed up so you don’t have to
- Variations you can try – Once you nail the basic version, mix it up and make it your own
Plus, cute drawings are incredibly versatile. You can doodle them in the margins of your notes (we’ve all been there), use them to decorate your bullet journal, make custom stickers, or even start building your own art style. They’re the perfect gateway into drawing because they give you quick wins that actually look good.
So take your pencil, and let’s start right away! ♥
Cute Animal Drawings: Step-by-Step Tutorials
Cute Angel Cat Face

This little cat drawing is honestly one of my favorites for beginners. It’s basically just a simple cat face, but adding tiny wings makes it feel magical and special. Perfect for decorating notes or doodling in your planner!
Quick Tutorial

- Draw a circle (it doesn’t need to be perfect)
- Add triangular ears, small pointy ears on top of our cat’s head!
- Erase the overlapping lines and add details inside the ears
- Add angel wings on both sides
- Draw the face and a little heart above the cat’s head to complete the drawing ♥
Cute Fish in Tank

If you like fish, this one is super easy and cute while being aesthetic – it’s really all in one at this point. I really like it because it also makes me think of Yin and Yang concept for some reason. It’s not really accurate perspective wise, but that’s not the point of such drawing. ♥
Adorable Chibi Dog

If you love dogs, this chibi puppy is going to be your new go-to doodle. The chubby body and tiny legs make it impossibly cute, and that little bow? Well – of course you can remove it if your pup is a boy ♥
The key to chibi style is making the body round and chubby while keeping the legs really small. It’s that proportion that makes it so adorable! Don’t worry if your circles aren’t perfect, the wobbliness adds charm.
Quick Tutorial

- Draw two “circles” stacked: smaller circle on top (head), bigger rounder circle below (body). The circle on the bottom should more elongated (oval shape) compared to the head.
- Let’s shape our puppy. Add a little cheek on the top circle. Refine the body shape (follow the drawing you see on step 2).
Add the legs too – Draw four short, chubby legs at the bottom. They should look like little rounded rectangles - (optional) Draw a bow on the head ♥
- Add floppy ears, two rounded shapes hanging down on either side of the head We also add the wavy tail.
- Draw the face and details – Tiny dots for eyes, small curved mouth, and add a little collar ♥
Cute Chubby Cat Drawing

This confused little chubby cat has become one of my most-drawn doodles. There’s something about that questioning expression that’s just so relatable and funny.
The chubby blob shape is so forgiving – you literally can’t mess it up. Every time I draw this, it looks slightly different, and they’re all cute in their own way. The question mark really sells the whole “confused potato” vibe.
Quick Tutorial ♥

- Draw a round blob.
- Refine the shape of the blob so we can identify the head from the body (kinda)
- Adding the legs ! On the bottom of the blob, we add four legs.
- Now we can add the ears on top of the blob. They should be small to stay adorable~
- Add the face and the tail, as well as skin folds – in my doodle, the cat is checking itself (with the idea of searching for its belly button, lol). ♥ Don’t forget to erase the overlapping lines when you’re done 🙂
Chubby Duck Drawing

The cutest little duck you’ll ever draw! This one’s perfect when you want something simple but satisfying. Ducks are naturally cute in my opinion, so it’s not hard to draw a cute one lol. ♥

- Draw a circle (small, for the head)
- Draw another circle just under it for the body, but don’t finish the top of it (but if you do, you can erase later on!). At this point, it looks like you’re gonna draw a snowman.
- Now let’s add details to this body: the little tail, and a wing
- Time to add the beak pointing to the side, as well as a part of one foot (this is optional, it’s also cute without any foot!)
- Add the eye, and erase the construction lines! Tada~ a cute little duck drawing.
Cute Bunny Face

This sweet little bunny face is one of the easiest and cutest things you’ll ever draw. The closed eyes make it look so peaceful and happy. It’s like the bunny is just vibing and enjoying life. But now that I think, maybe the slight perspetive (due to the angle) might make it a little bit harder to draw for pure beginners. Anyway, let’s dicover the tutorial!
Bunny Face Tutorial

- Draw an oval slightly wider at the bottom
- Draw a tall oval shape on top, slightly tilted for the first bunny ear
- Add the second ear by adding another oval next to it, overlapping slightly
- Erase the overlapping lines, refine your lines~
- Add the face: two small curved lines for closed happy eyes & a tiny curved “w” mouth
Magical Rabbits in a Bottle

Okay, this one is a bit more detailed but SO worth it. It’s like capturing cuteness in a bottle (literally). This drawing always gets reactions when I show people.
It combines simple shapes (the bottle) with tiny details (the bunnies) to create something that looks way more impressive than it actually is to draw. You can put anything in the bottle – stars, hearts, tiny cats, whatever you want!

- Draw a circle (the bottle body) and its neck
- Add a semi circle inside the bottle, and continue the details on the neck of the bottle
- Now that step is the hardest one – you need to finish the bottle design, with the cork stopper.
First, draw the top of the bottle (make sure your don’t press too hard on your pencil).
Then, add the cork. The reason the cork is divided in two is to give the impression that it’s entering the bottle, since the bottle itself has some thickness to it. - Now draw some wavy lines inside the bottle. I wanted to represent something similar to a cloud here.
- Draw tiny bunnies! Add 2 small round rabbits in the cloud. Use simple circles for bodies, smaller circles for heads, and tiny ears ♥
Cute Pony Drawing

If you grew up with My Little Pony or just love magical creatures, this pony drawing hits different. I just love drawing ponies nowadays :’)
Pony Step by Step

- Draw the skeleton of the pony. If you need help with that, I have a whole article about it ! ♥
- Refine the shapes and shape the body around the skeleton
- More refining to really define the base correctly and have a clean base
- Now we draw the mane & tail
- And the eye and extra details last!
Silly Cat Drawing

Okay, this one is just hilarious. Perfect for expressing those “Monday morning” feelings or when you just need to draw something funny. Sometimes you need to draw something that just captures that “AAAHHH” feeling, you know? This screaming cat is perfect for those moments.
Screaming Cat Tutorial

- Draw an oval shape
- Add circle inner oval (the mouth!)
- Add the following details: ears, eyes and inside of the mouth
- Add the two front legs
- Finish up the body with the back legs and the tail
- Refine the whole thing: darken what needs to be dark and clean up your linework!
Kawaii Character Drawing Ideas for Beginners
Cute Chibi Boy Drawing

Learning to draw chibi people opens up SO many possibilities. This simple boy character is a great starting point for creating your own characters or drawing your friends in cute style.
Cute Boy Tutorial

- Draw a circle and the beginning of the letter A, but do not draw the second leg.
- Draw the second leg in front of the other leg, floating in the air
- Draw both arms floating away from the body
- Give substance to your chibi by using your skeleton and drawing the body around it. 🙂
- After that, you can add details and make the base your own little chibi ♥
Cute Girl Drawing

Same concept as the chibi boy but with different details! This chibi girl has long hair and a super cute pose that makes it feel more dynamic. Same basic body structure as the boy, but the details make it completely different. This is why learning the chibi base is so useful, you can create endless variations!
Cute Girl Tutorial

- Draw a “O” and a “A” on top of each other.
- Draw the arms
- Use the skeleton to shape the body of your chibi
- Add details to the face – you have your base!
- Add more details: clothes, hair, etc. And we’ve got ourselves a cute chibi ♥

Cute Boy Reading

A cute chibi boy reading for those who want something a little more specific~
Cute Duo Friends Drawing

If you want to draw two friends together, here is a cute idea you can try. It’s also super easy – and I’ve made a tutorial for those who want to draw them. If you know Kodocha, that’s where it comes from! ♥
Quick Tutorial

Have you watched Kodomo no Omocha? If you haven’t, I suggest you do. First, because it’s cute as heck, and second, because you’ll learn how to draw this chibi (Sana)! ♥
Friends Drawing Idea

And here is the last drawing of this character category – for now at least. Two friends (or maybe just one friend by the look of it). But don’t worry, even the one who looks like he doesn’t wanna be there loves his friend, lol.
Easy Cute Nature Drawings (Flowers, Plants & More)

Plants are already cute, but add a little face and suddenly they’re your new best friend. This simple plant pot drawing is perfect for anyone who loves that cozy, wholesome vibe.
I draw these all the time in my planner as little reminders that growth takes time. You can change up the plant type; try a cactus, a flower, or even a tiny tree. ♥

- Start with some sort of curved rectangle
- Continue the line on top of your rectangle to draw a very elongated oval form – this is the top of your flower pot!
- Now add the soil inside, and the bottom of your pot
- We can now draw our little plant. You can draw any plant or flower you prefer, actually!
- And let’s not forget to add a little face to our cute plant drawing ♥
Cute & Easy Rose Drawing

Roses might seem intimidating, but the spiral method makes them surprisingly easy. Start loose and messy in the center, that’s how real roses actually look! The color really makes this one stand out ♥
Easy Rose Tutorial

- Draw a circle, this will be your guide
- Draw a spiral inside (do not press on your pencil when you draw it :))
- In the middle of the spiral, draw a little heart – that’s the rose’s center
- Now we’re drawing the first inner petals, little by little. Make sure to give them different sizes!
- The petals get bigger and bigger, and we continue following the spiral while drawing them
- For the details, we add two leaves and little sparkles around. Once you shade the whole thing, it brings life to the rose! ♥
Moon & Cloud

This dreamy combination is perfect for night-themed drawings. It’s simple but has such a cozy, peaceful feeling. I use this one all the time in my planner for evening routines or sleep tracking.
Moon & Cloud Tutorial

- Draw a crescent moon, a simple curved C-shape
- Add a fluffy cloud below, overlapping on the moon
- Erase the lines of the moon
- Add raindrop (kinda) shapes falling from the cloud
- Add little stars around ♥
Cute Food Drawings for Your Sketchbook
Cute Bunny Dango Drawing

If you love Japanese food or kawaii culture, this dango (sweet rice dumpling) skewer is PERFECT. The bunny face on top makes it extra cute of course, but if you prefer another animal, go for it! ♥
Dango is a real Japanese dessert: sweet rice dumplings on a stick! The three-color combo (pink, white, green) is traditional and represents cherry blossoms, snow, and new grass. Adding the bunny face makes it extra cute while still keeping that authentic Japanese food vibe. This drawing always makes me think of springtime and cherry blossom season!
Dango Tutorial

- Draw three overlapping circles, and place them diagonally, each one slightly overlapping the next
- Add a stick overlapping on the last circle
- Erase the lines and add one for the stick (where it enters the rice cake!)
- Add bunny ears and little paws ♥
- Draw the bunny’s face. In my case, I drew a sleepy one.
- Now you can color it if you want like I did on top! ♥
Cat Milk Drawing

I love mixing up food & animals, because it makes everything look cuter and somehow tastier. Isn’t this cat milk bottle super cute? :’)
Cute Cupcake Drawing

A classic cute food drawing! Cupcakes are naturally adorable, aren’t they? The messier and more organic it looks, the more realistic and cute it becomes. I always add sparkles because it makes it look cuter ♥
Cupcake Tutorial

- Draw a trapezoid base: wider at top, narrower at bottom (the cupcake wrapper)
- Draw a rounded triangle shape on top of it
- Time to start refining the frosting: first, little bumps at the bottom
- Then, we draw something similar to the poop emoji, following the triangle lines you drew at the beginning
- And we end the cupcake by adding sparkles! ♥
Cozy Coffee Cup

Who doesn’t like coffee? Well – I don’t, but hey, people keep saying I’m weird for not liking coffee, so… let’s draw some coffee shall we? At least I like drawing it, lol.
Coffee Cup Step by Step

- Draw a square to start – it doesn’t need to be perfect, it’s just the base of our drawing
- Round the square to make it more cup-shaped
- Add the rim by drawing an oval on top showing the cup opening
- Fill in the top with dark color (it’s the coffee! but if you prefer drawing tea, you can use another color)
- Add a handle and a little heart, your coffee is ready!
Coffee Alternatives

Since I’m a cat lover (or am I? I don’t have a cat, but I find them super cute) I decided to draw the coffee in cat version! From the front view, and the back. ♥
All these cups use the same cup base that I’ve just shared the tutorial of, so you’re basically learning one drawing with two personality options.
Happy Toast Drawing

Okay, this time for real: who doesn’t like bread? I LOVE bread, properly. and this little guy looks properly tasty. Perfect for breakfast-themed art or just general wholesome vibes.
Cute Toast Tutorial

- Draw a rounded square (with soft, rounded corners)
- Add side curveson the left and right sides to show the bread’s round edges
- Add the crust line inside the square following the edge
- Add two little arms on each side. I made one of them waving at us because I’m drawing happy bread :c
- And we finish with the face 🙂
Simple Cute Objects and Things to Draw
Aesthetic Polaroid Drawing

This polaroid frame is super versatile because you can draw whatever scene you want inside it. ♥ Perfect for creating memory-style drawings or decorative elements. I literally draw this kind of thing everywhere in my journal!
Quick Tutorial

- Draw a square; basic for the photo part
- Add the polaroid frame by drawing a border around it, thicker on the bottom
- Draw mountains or any landscape you like inside the polaroid. Here, we’re drawing mountains!
- And we add more details, like a moon and stars in the sky ♥
Cute Love Letter

A super easy and cute drawing idea: a couple of love letters~♥ If you’re in love or feels like you want to send love to someone, you can use this doodle. 🙂
Cute Camera Drawing

Another super easy idea to doodle in your journal: a cute camera! It makes me think of the instagram logo, to be honest, but well. It’s a nice doodle for people who journal a lot, I think ♥
Cute Crystal Drawing

If you’re into that aesthetic, mystical vibe, while remaining cute & easy, this crystal drawing is perfect. It looks way more complicated than it actually is, which makes it super satisfying to draw. I put it in the object category because I don’t really have a proper category for this, uh. :l

- Start by drawing an uneven hexagon shape – it really doesn’t need to be perfect (crystals aren’t symmetrical or perfect either!)
- Add geometric facets: draw lines inside creating angular sections (like cutting a diamond)
- Add a small crystal at the base, and a couple of additional cuts in the main crystal
- Now we’ll add some sort of shadow – the shape of this needs to be a mix between angles and curves. On the top, it should be angular to let us imagine additional crystals hidden behind the main crystal. And on the bottom, I prefer curvier lines, almost like the crystal was leaking some liquid.
- And now we add details! A lot of sparkles and dots, a couple more cut and details & we’re done! ♥
P.S. Love You Drawing

You’re in love, you want to show it, scream it, draw it, well there you go. This one is super easy and efficient: draw it on your crush’s journal 🙂
Bottle of Hearts

This is like the hearts version of the rabbit bottle: cute, whimsical, and perfect for expressing feelings. I draw this one a lot for friends’ birthdays or just when I want something sweet.
Quick Tutorial

- Draw a rounded jar shape, a simple cylinder with rounded bottom
- Add the jar rim, by adding two rounded rectangle on top of the shape you just drew
- Draw a ribbon bow around the rim
- Add the lid detail and extra substance to the bow
- Now fill with hearts, and we’re done ♥
Love Bulb

Here is another cute drawing idea with a simple object of everyday life: a light bulb! By adding a heart detail and little strokes around the bulb, it makes it look cute immediately~
How to Make Any Drawing Look Cuter (5 Easy Tricks)
Want to know the secret formula for cuteness? It’s actually not that complicated. After drawing hundreds of cute things, I’ve figured out the tricks that make literally anything look adorable. Here are the five things I do every single time:
1. Make the Eyes Either
REALLY BIG or REALLY SMALL.
This is like, THE rule of cute. BIG EYES or SMALL EYES. Big eyes will make your drawing look cute & adorable, and small eyes will make it look silly and cute. It depends on the look you’re going for of course, but if you look at all my drawings, I always go for either, no in between. Either a small dot, or a massive eye. lol It works on animals, people, food, objects, literally everything.
My go-to eye styles:
- Simple dots: Two circles or dots – classic and can’t go wrong
- Sparkle eyes: Draw a circle, add a smaller circle inside for the “shine” – extra cute points
- Closed happy eyes: Two upward curves (like ^ ^) for a peaceful, content vibe
2. Round Everything Out
Cute drawings love round, soft shapes. Think of something squishy. Square body? Nah, make it a rounded rectangle. Even things that are supposed to be sharp (like cat ears) look cuter when they’re slightly rounded.
Think of it like this: if you can imagine hugging it, it’s cute. Sharp pointy things? Not very huggable. Soft round things? Extremely huggable.
3. Add Rosy Cheeks
Two little circles or ovals on the cheeks = instant cuteness boost. You can draw them as simple circles, color them in lightly with pink, or leave them as outlines. Either way works.
It gives your drawing that blushy, innocent look that’s basically the foundation of kawaii art. Sometimes I even add them to inanimate objects like coffee cups or donuts. Does a donut need rosy cheeks? No. Does it look adorable with them? Absolutely.
4. Keep It Simple
Here’s something that took me way too long to learn: less is more. You don’t need to draw every single detail. In fact, the simpler you keep it, the cuter it usually turns out.
- Minimal facial features: Just eyes and maybe a tiny mouth. That’s it. You don’t need a nose most of the time.
- Simple body shapes: Basic circles and ovals make up most cute drawings
- Limited details: A few key details are better than trying to draw everything
When I’m stuck, I literally ask myself: “What’s the absolute minimum I need to make this recognizable?” Then I draw just that.
5. Make Things Slightly Chubby
Cute things are rarely tall and skinny. They’re short, round, and a little pudgy. It’s science (probably). When you’re drawing cute versions of things:
- Make bodies rounder and shorter than they’d normally be
- Shorten legs and arms (or make them tiny compared to the body)
- Big heads – always the answer.
Think about it: baby animals are cute because they have big heads and small chubby bodies. We’re just applying that same principle to everything we draw.
Bonus Tips I Wish I Knew Earlier
Use pastel colors: Soft pinks, light blues, gentle yellows – pastel colors automatically make things look cuter. Bright aggressive colors? Less cute. Soft gentle colors? Maximum cute.
Add tiny details: Little things like hearts, stars, sparkles, or small patterns make your drawings feel more complete. A plain cat is cute. A cat with sparkles floating around? Heck yes.
Give them personality: A slight head tilt, a small smile, one eye closed – little personality touches make your drawings feel alive and more lovable.
The “imperfect” is perfect: Your lines don’t need to be perfect. Your circles don’t need to be perfectly round. That hand-drawn, slightly wobbly quality actually adds to the charm. I used to stress about making everything perfect, but honestly? The imperfections make it more unique and personal.

I love this! I’ll be drawing these for the rest of the day!!!
