Hello everyone!
Today I’m back with another article about cozy hobbies. If you visit the blog often, you probably know by now that I am a serial creative. I love trying out new things, and I have a deep passion for crafts, DIY, and cozy hobbies. If that sounds like you, I’m sure you’ll love this list as much as I do!
Some hobbies can be tricky to get into (hello crochet!) and might be discouraging at first. I know it certainly discouraged me because I was so bad when I started! But some hobbies are really easy to pick up and don’t require much skill, time, or effort. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed while trying out a new hobby or worried that you won’t be able to commit, this list is for you! The hobbies listed here are super easy, relaxing, and perfect for beginners.
For most of them, you’ll need some materials. I’ll link some Amazon products that I really like, but of course, you can search for your own and buy something that fits your style and needs.
Let’s dive in!

Coloring Books

Coloring is the ultimate beginner-friendly hobby. Haven’t we all started coloring as kids? It’s something you don’t need to be good at to enjoy, and there’s no learning curve. Just grab your favorite colors (markers, pencils, or even paint!), a coloring book, and you’re good to go! Nowadays, you can find adult coloring books that match any aesthetic, so I’m sure you’ll find one that suits you.
It’s such an easy hobby that helps relieve stress and anxiety, allowing you to unwind.
Don’t feel pressured to make it look perfect! As you get used to coloring, you can learn techniques like shading, layering colors, and more. But when starting, just keep it simple!
Here are some coloring books I love from Amazon:
And some markers / pencils :
Keep in mind that you don’t need the most expensive material to start out any hobby, it can fit any budget. ♥ If you don’t have much money to spend, you can even download and print coloring pages for free!
Activity Books

Activity books are another nostalgic hobby from childhood. I used to complete activity books a lot during vacations, and I loved it! They come in many forms. You’ll find some with chill activities and puzzles, while others will be focused on a story. Activity books have evolved quite a bit through time!
You can even pair this with language learning by picking up an activity book in your target language. It’s something I personally love doing!
Activity books keep things interesting because they offer a variety of activities. If you’re someone who needs a little change from time to time, definitely try them. They help keep your brain engaged without too much effort.
Some recommendations:
Diamond Painting

Diamond painting is similar to paint-by-numbers, but with tiny, sparkly gems. You receive a bag of gems sorted by color, and all you have to do is match the colors to the numbers and place the gems accordingly. It’s incredibly satisfying and requires no prior skill. You just need to buy a diamond painting set, and there are many available on Amazon or Etsy. If you’re new to diamond painting, I’d suggest starting with a small kit.
My favorites:
Perler Beads

Does this sound familiar? It definitely does for me! Perler beads bring back so much childhood nostalgia. You arrange tiny beads on a pegboard, iron them, and voilà! You have a cute pixelated design. There are plenty of templates available, so you don’t even have to come up with your own patterns.
But if you’re feeling adventurous, you can create your own designs (or more like copy famous designs you see on Internet). For example, if you’re a Pokémon or Stardew Valley fan, you can easily make something you love by taking a pixel sprite (you can google it) and recreating it with beads. Simple, right?
Paper Craft
Another great hobby to try is paper craft. For this hobby, you’ll only need paper (colored or not—it’s up to you!), scissors, and glue. I love searching for cute paper craft tutorials on Pinterest. They come with all the instructions, and you just follow along. YouTube also has fantastic tutorials, some of which include free templates, so you don’t even need to think—just print, cut, and glue!
It’s an easy way to experiment with art without needing any drawing skills. Plus, you can incorporate recycled materials for added creativity.

And if you’re feeling ambitious, you can try origami! Origami is a relaxing and satisfying hobby that only requires a piece of paper. Start with simple folds like cranes or flowers and gradually move on to more intricate designs. There are plenty of tutorials online, and it’s a great way to practice mindfulness.
Beading

Beading is one of my favorite cozy hobbies. With just some beads and thread, you can create keychains, bracelets, necklaces, and more. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with hair jewels, and my next project is to make cute hair accessories with beads and trinkets.
Following a tutorial makes it super easy, and once you get the hang of it, the possibilities are endless. YouTube has plenty of tutorials, but you can also take inspiration from a picture and create your own designs.
Cross Stitching

Cross stitching is a great hobby for beginners! Unlike embroidery, which has various stitches to learn, cross stitching is simple—you only need to know one basic stitch. How great does that sound?!
It’s a relaxing craft, and there are plenty of beginner-friendly kits available.
Puzzles
Puzzles are a fantastic way to unwind. You can start with a small puzzle or challenge yourself with a larger one. Puzzles are also great for socializing—you can work on them with friends or family, making them a fun shared activity.
If you prefer digital puzzles, there are free websites where you can play and even collaborate with others : Jigsaw Puzzles.
Lego Sets
Lego has evolved so much over time. While it was initially marketed towards kids, there are now so many sets for adults, including decorative Lego plants, flowers, and themed sets based on your favorite shows or books.

The instructions are easy to follow, making it a beginner-friendly activity. The only thing you need is patience!
You can search up any lego set you’re interested in (for example Harry Potter lego set), but here are some of my favorites:
Content Creation

If you love sharing your thoughts, hobbies, or daily life, content creation can be a great outlet. Whether it’s blogging like me, vlogging, or sharing on social media, it’s a fun way to document your interests.
It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s about sharing and connecting with people who enjoy similar things. Finding a community of like-minded individuals is such a rewarding experience!
Collecting

Collecting is incredibly satisfying, but it doesn’t have to be expensive! You can collect anything that brings you joy—stickers, books, mini figures, stamps, rocks, shells, and more.
I recently started collecting mini figures. At first, I bought just one, but now I have many. Seeing them every day brings me joy, and that’s what collecting is all about—surrounding yourself with things that make you happy.

Collections ideas
- Stickers: Cute, nostalgic, aesthetic, or seasonal stickers to decorate journals and planners. I have so many stickers!
- Mini Figures: Collect figurines from your favorite series, blind boxes (from Popmart for example), or handcrafted miniatures.
- Pressed Flowers & Leaves: Preserve beautiful flowers and leaves. I love the idea of doing this while describing the meaning of flowers, their origin, where you found them, etc. So relaxing… And free!
- Enamel Pins: Enamel pins are so cool to collect. You can display them on a pin board or a cozy jacket for a fun collection.
- Vintage Postcards & Letters: Hunt for charming old postcards or handwritten notes with beautiful designs. You can also collect stamps!
- Books: Collect special editions, cozy mysteries, or childhood favorites. Anything you like about books really!
- Teas & Teacups: Build a collection of loose-leaf teas or unique teacups from different places. Similar to the flowers & leaves collection!
- Washi Tapes: So many patterns and colors to collect, perfect for journaling and crafting.
- Scented Candles: Cozy scents like vanilla, cinnamon, or fresh linen for different moods. Plus, nowadays candles can look super cute too.
- Knitted or Crocheted Items: Handmade scarves, socks, or blankets add warmth to your collection. That collection might be taking a lot of space really fast though!
- Coins: A cute way to remember places you’ve visited is to collect the local money from everywhere you go. It’s such a nice thing to collect in my opinion.
- Journals & Notebooks: Blank journals, themed notebooks, or ones with beautiful covers. Don’t we all have a collection of empty journals? lol
- Cozy Mugs: Mugs with cute designs, meaningful quotes, or seasonal patterns. This one will also take a lot of space with time!
- Board Games & Puzzles: Collect games for solo or group fun, perfect for a cozy evening.
- Handmade Soap: Collecting handmade soaps can also be nice. It smells good, and is beautiful. Because why not?
- Cute Bookmarks: Collect unique bookmarks, from vintage to handmade designs.
- Music Vinyls or CDs: Collect records or albums from your favorite artists!
Painting with Stickers / By Number
If you really want to chill and not overthink, what about these two ? Painting with stickers or by number is super easy and will make a great activity when you’re trying to relax. It’s similar to coloring books, but more simple! Just match the stickers or paint colors to the numbers, and you’ll end up with a stunning piece of art without any stress.
Gaming

Is there an article where I don’t write about gaming ? Gaming can be such a great cozy hobby as well. You just need to find the game that will fit you and your style. There’s a game for everyone! Whether it’s cozy simulation games like Stardew Valley or puzzle games on your phone, gaming is a fantastic hobby. You can start small with mobile or tablet games before investing in a console, or even a computer.

Journaling

Journaling is an easy and rewarding hobby. There are so many ways to journal:
- Scrapbooking
- Gratitude journal
- Gaming journal
- Movie logs
- Reading journal
- Hobby logs
You don’t have to journal daily. Just pick it up when you feel like it. Over time, you’ll get into the habit naturally. It’s always super fun to look back at old journals. You can also journal digitally on your phone, tablet or computer!
Journal recommendations:
Air Dry Clay
Working with air dry clay is a fun, hands-on hobby that doesn’t require much to start. You can sculpt simple figures, create jewelry dishes, or make tiny decorations. Since air dry clay doesn’t require baking, it’s an accessible way to get into crafting without any special tools.

You also don’t need to be good to find it fun and relaxing. I picked up some cheap air dry clay and tried making my first figurine (and my husband was also doing it by my side, so it was super fun!) : Bulbasaur. (not the easiest to start with lol) The result was far from perfect, but it was truly a relaxing experience and just so much fun to make.
Air Dry Clay Recommendations:
Bonus: Drawing
Drawing is another cozy hobby that you can commit to as a beginner. Actually, this blog was made for people who want to find easy drawing ideas originally! So even if you can’t draw, you can still try out the drawing ideas in all the articles I’ve written.

You only need a piece of paper and a pencil, or a tablet if you have one and prefer drawing digitally!
Wrap Up
I hope this list inspires you to try a new cozy hobby! None of these require extensive learning, and they’re all great ways to relax and bring joy into your daily life. If you’ve been hesitant to start a hobby because of the learning curve, I hope this shows you that there are so many easy and accessible options.
If you have any other cozy hobby ideas that are beginner friendly, feel free to share them in the comments, I’m super curious to know!
